A public symposium hosted by King’s
summer program Humanities for Young People (HYP)

Thinking Through Fear

Speakers Elisabeth de Mariaffi and El Jones will be speaking to an audience of high school students on the subject of “thinking through fear.”

The public is welcome to listen and engage in questions such as: why read and write about fear? How does genre help us process our very real world? How do power structures use fear as a medium for control? How can we use our reading to find truth, and how can we use our voice to speak truth to power? How can we consider fear in the context of moral courage and collective struggle?

The discussion will be moderated by Hilary Ilkay.
